DAY 1 MUNICH AIRPORT- MUNICH
No biking
Meet your guide at Munich airport where you’ll be transfered to Hotel Anna or similar in old town for two nights. Later welcome aperitif and a welcome drink will follow in a local restaurant. (D)
DAY 2 MUNICH
Activity level: easy 25km
After breakfast start your day by exploring Munich on a guided bike tour. Munich is one of the best cities in the world to be experienced on a bike with a network of bike trails all over the city. Our tour will include the old town sights like MarienPlatz, FrauenKirchen, Viktuel Markt and many more first. Later head out of the old town district to see BMW World, Olympic Village and vast English Garden and try some local world famous Bavarian beer. After returning to the hotel the rest of the afternoon and evening is to explore on your own. (B)
DAY 3 MUNICH-WOLFRATSHAUSEN-BAD TOLZ-TEGERNSEE
Activity level: easy 55km
This morning your biking starts when you join the Isar river in Munich. The Isar river bike trail follows all along the river passing typical Bavarian villages and countryside. The ride is very attractive since you flank the river on your left all the time. The last part we’ll use a van to transfer you to one of the most attractive lakes in Bavaria- Tegernsee. Your accommodation for two nights is Villa Lago or similar. Tonight a typical Bavarian dinner will be served in a local restaurant. (B,D)
DAY 4 TEGERNSEE- NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE.-LINDERHOF
No biking
Today enjoy a day of extraordinary sights. In the morning you’ll be transferred to one of the most famous castles in the world, the Neuschwanstein castle of Mad King Ludwik II of Bavaria. Before entering the castle for a guided tour a short hike and a visit of Mary’s bridge will follow. After visiting the castle head more deep in bavarian forest to see Linderhof castle and a bavarian town famous for mural paintings and passion play. Evening free. (B)
DAY 5 TEGERNSEE-CHIEMSEE
Activity level: easy 35km
After breakfast hop on a bike and explore the area of first foothills of the Bavarian Alps. Your bike trail will take you through picturesque Alpine valleys, forests, meadows and passing clear streams and rivers till you reach the largest lake in Bavaria- Chiemsee. Your accommodation Fichestubell hotel or similar is in a small Bavarian village full of Bavarian charm and authenticity. Tonight enjoy a fish dinner in a local restaurant. (B,D)
DAY 6 CHIEMSEE LAKE
Activity level: easy 30km
Chiemsee circular bike trail is the best way to explore the area and if you combine it with a regular boat serving the lake its more easy and fun. The 30km trail which is classified as easy level will guide you through the most beautiful places of interest which will enable you breathtaking views at the Chiemsee lake. After biking till Gstadt we hop on a boat and visit the biggest island on the lake-The Herreninsel. The third and the last of the Ludwik II of Bavaria castles is built on the island. Before heading back to your hotel enjoy a guided walking tour of the Chiemsee Palace and a small museum dedicated to Ludvik II. Free evening. (B)
DAY 7 CHIEMSEE LAKE- BERGEN-SALZBURG
Activity level: easy 35km
We start biking from Chiemsee area to reach the Bavarian town of Bergen where we get on a cable car to reach the Hochfelln peak. The cable car will take you to the top of the Hochfelln mountain for a breathtaking view of surrounding mountains and the countryside. Enjoy some lunch and views from a top. After heading down the van will transfer you across the Austrian border to Salzburg for four nights. Salzburg, literally « salt castle », is the fourth-largest city in Austria and birthplace of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and was the setting for the musical play and film The Sound of Music. Its historic centre is renowned for its baroque architecture and it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Your hotel Elephant or similar is centrally located. Tonight dinner will be served in a typical beer garden. (B,D)
DAY 8 SALZBURG AREA
No biking
After breakfast our guide will take you on a walking tour of the old town of Salzburg with its baroque architecture. In the afternoon the local guide experience continues as you explore the original shooting locations the of Sounds of Music movie, like Mirabell, Schloss Leopoldskron, the house where the family lived, Hellbrunn palace, St. Gilgen / Wolfgangsee and Mondsee Basilica where the wedding scene took place. The evening is free to expore Salzburg on your own. (B)
DAY 9 SALZBURG-HALLEIN-HALLEIN SALT MINE – SALZBURG
Activity level: easy 20km
Start your by biking the Salzach river bike trail till reaching the Salt town of Hallein. The tour continues in a saltmine where you ride an original mine train deep into the mountain. The really breathtaking guided experience takes about 1h and 30 minutes. Later cycle back to Salzburg for free afternoon and evening. (B)
DAY 10 SALZBURG-EAGLE’S NEST-KONIGSEE-SALZBURG
No biking
Today you head back to Germany for a bit of World History in the Bavarian Alps. In the morning you first visit the so-called “Eagle’s Nest” (Kehlsteinhaus) that was built as a teahouse for Adolf Hitler on Kehlstein Moutain at an elevation of 1,834 m. Its unusual position made it a unique engineering feat. After some free time on a top of a mountain we head back down to visit the cleanest bavarian lake. The Königssee is an emerald-green gem of a lake in the Berchtesgaden National Park. A visit includes an hour electric boat ride and a short 15 minute walk to a smaller lake, the Obersee where you can enjoy gorgeous views of the mountains reflected in the mirror-like surface, and the tall Röthbach waterfall. Later we head back to Salzburg for a farawell dinner. (B,D)
DAY 11 SALZBURG-SALZBURG OR MUNICH AIRPORT
After breakfast you’ll be transfered to Salzburg airport for your return flight home.
