The following day, we’ll head south to explore Split, where you’ll step back in time to the grand palace built by Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century. A local guide will lead you through these exceptionally well-preserved ruins. Our journey continues with a three-night stay in Dubrovnik, known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic.” Take a full-day excursion to neighboring Montenegro, a country brimming with pride and beauty. Next up is Bosnia, with its capital city, Sarajevo. Spend a day immersing yourself in the captivating history and culture of this remarkable place. We’ll then drive back to Croatia to experience the wonder of Plitvice National Park. Get ready to be enchanted by the countless waterfalls and natural beauty of this park as we explore its trails.
Finally, our tour concludes with a visit to the lively Croatian capital, Zagreb, and the stunning Lake Bled, often referred to as “The Pearl of the Alps” in Slovenia. It’s going to be an incredible journey, and we can’t wait to share these memorable moments with you.

Just a brief half-hour drive from Ljubljana, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the Karst region, where you’ll be enchanted by its most precious gem, the renowned Postojna Cave, and the nearby Predjama Castle. ZADAR - SPLIT - DUBROVNIK
Today, you’re in for a treat as you explore the famous Croatian coastline. The picturesque winding road along the coast offers breathtaking views of small inlets, idyllic islands, and the rugged hills, creating a stunning and untamed backdrop. Your first stop is Split, Croatia’s largest city along the Dalmatian coast and a hub of administration, culture, and economy. In the year 305 A.D., the ancient Roman Emperor Diocletian commissioned the construction of his palace in Split, and it’s no surprise considering he was born in the nearby town of Salona, known today as Solin. The remains of this palace now make up half of Split’s historic center, and this morning, you’ll have the pleasure of exploring all its beauties in the company of a local guide.
In the afternoon, your adventure continues further south. On your way to Dubrovnik, you’ll make a stop in Ston, a historic town strategically situated on the Pelješac peninsula. Ston is famous for its oyster farms and outstanding fish restaurants where you’ll enjoy a delightful dinner. Following your satisfying meal, a 45-minute drive will take you to Dubrovnik, where you’ll spend the next three nights in the luxurious Grand Villa Argentina 5* or a similar top-class accommodation. (B, D)
DUBROVNIK
This morning, you’ll embark on a guided walking tour of this incredible town with a knowledgeable local guide. The tour will cover the iconic Stradun and the majestic defensive walls that have protected Dubrovnik for centuries. In the afternoon and evening, you’re free to explore Dubrovnik at your own pace and enjoy the city’s charms on your terms. (B)
DUBROVNIK - KOTOR BAY - LOVČEN - DUBROVNIK
Depart from Dubrovnik in the morning for an exciting excursion to Montenegro. Your first stop will be in Perast, where you can capture photos of the picturesque Our Lady of the Rock island and then proceed to Kotor, a unique coastal town with a rich history. Kotor was once part of the Venetian Republic for over three centuries, and its well-preserved fortifications and structures have earned it a spot on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
Montenegro boasts a fascinating history as an independent principality and later a kingdom from 1696 to 1918. Your journey will take you to the village associated with its ruling dynasty and Mount Lovčen, home to the mausoleum of Petar Petrovič Njegoš, one of Montenegro’s most renowned princes and poets. To reach these significant historical and cultural sites, you’ll navigate steep country roads set amidst the stunning mountain landscape.
DUBROVNIK - MOSTAR - SARAJEVO
Today, we journey northward, making our way to Sarajevo in Bosnia & Herzegovina, with an exciting stop in Mostar along the way.
Our first stop is the iconic city of Mostar, famous for its breathtaking bridge spanning the Neretva River. This 16th-century bridge is a splendid example of Islamic architecture in the Balkans. Despite being destroyed during the conflicts in the 1990s, it was meticulously rebuilt and restored to its original glory in 2004. Many of the original stones were used in its reconstruction. The Mostar Old Bridge has been rightfully recognized on UNESCO’s World Heritage Site list.
After some free time for lunch in Mostar, we’ll continue our journey north, traveling through the stunning and picturesque Neretva valley scenery. Our final destination today is Sarajevo, where you’ll spend one night. You’ll be accommodated at Hotel President 4* or a similar hotel, conveniently located next to Sarajevo’s historic Bazzar Baščaršija.
In the afternoon, you’ll embark on an in-depth guided tour of Sarajevo with our local expert guide. The tour will include visits to the Catholic Cathedral, the Synagogue, the Orthodox Church, and the Mosque, all located practically within the same block. You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy some fabulous shopping in the Old Bazzar. In the evening, you’ll dine at a typical Bosnian restaurant, where you can savor some local culinary delights. (B, D)
SARAJEVO - PLITVICE LAKES
Get ready for a morning of exploration and adventure. Today, we head east to witness and explore the natural wonder of Plitvice Lakes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Croatia. This extraordinary phenomenon features a series of interconnected lakes along the Korana River. You’ll have the opportunity to visit both the Upper and Lower lakes, allowing you to traverse through enchanting forests and picturesque parks. Be sure to have your camera ready, as you’ll encounter countless photo-worthy moments. For tonight’s accommodations, you’ll be staying at Hotel Degenija, a comfortable 4-star hotel or a similar option conveniently located near the park. Your evening meal will be served at the hotel, ensuring a relaxing and convenient end to your day. (B, D)
PLITVICE LAKES - ZAGREB - BLED
This morning, we bid farewell to the enchanting Plitvice Lakes and set our course for the vibrant capital of Croatia, Zagreb. Upon arrival, you’ll embark on a captivating walking tour that will lead you through the historic upper town and castle area, which now serves as the political heart of the city and the entire nation. Your exploration will continue in Dolac, a bustling district with a lively market. Take your time browsing through the market stalls, where you’ll find a variety of typical products. Your guide or driver will be on hand to offer recommendations for a satisfying lunch.
Following your Zagreb experience, you’ll be whisked away to the iconic Lake Bled in Slovenia. Here, you’ll spend one night in the delightful waterfront GH Toplice, a 5-star gem or a similar establishment. Hello Andrej, It was a great pleasure meeting you in Slovenia for dinner on the 9th July. Louise and I had a wonderful and memorable tour with Stefan and are most appreciative of all the services he and your company provided including driving us to Venice Airport. Once again, thank you very much for all your assistance and Louise and I have and will continue to be promoting Slovenia4seasons to our friends in Australia. Best wishes, Duncan&Louise Fraser, NSW, Australia

Croatia tour island hopping – 11 days - May 2023
Hi Andrej I would like to express my appreciation for the way we were looked after on our trip. Stefan was fantastic and no praise is great enough for him. Although it was unfortunate that we were on our own, it did mean we could deviate from the original tour program in Sarajevo and Dubrovnik and see things we did not see on our first trip. I must add that the walking and climbing of steps did take its toll on our legs, we survived, but I don't think we could keep up with a younger bunch. Once again, thank you for a fantastic trip. Best wishes!

Croatia delight tour – 13 days - September 2023
The best possible tour of the Balkans We have travelled a lot but the 15 day tour of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro that Andrej organised for us was exceptional. Everything from choice of hotels, driver/guide, everything seen, food and wines, local guides and total ambience of the trip was more than anybody could ever expect. We began the trip with minimal knowledge of the countries we visited but, by the end of the comprehensive input from all the guides, we are leaving with some considerable knowledge of this complicated and exciting region. Slovenia4Seasons should be the first choice of anybody intending to visit the Balkans and beyond.
