Embark on an exciting private day trip that takes you through three countries in just one day, starting from Trieste pier. Your adventure begins as our guide picks you up from Trieste pier and drives you to the picturesque coastal town of Trieste in Italy, a city known for its rich history and diverse cultural influences. Your walking tour starts at the impressive Piazza Unita D’Italia, one of Italy’s finest squares, overlooking the Bay of Trieste, and concludes in the Theresian district. Afterward, you’ll have some free time to explore the city, renowned for its shopping and delightful Italian coffee.
Next, you’ll cross the border into Slovenia, traveling along a scenic coastal road to the photogenic town of Piran. This charming place has preserved its unique charm, and your guide will share its rich history and culture with you. You’ll have the opportunity to admire the main square, named after Piran’s most famous native, composer Giuseppe Tartini, who played a pivotal role in shaping the town’s cultural heritage. Piran boasts a beautiful square with a blend of Venetian Gothic and Austrian Neoclassical architectural styles.
From Piran, you’ll enjoy a short walk to the 16th-century parish church of San George, which offers spectacular views of three countries from its courtyard: Slovenia, Italy, and Croatia. After exploring Piran, you’ll have free time to discover the town on your own and savor a delicious lunch at one of the seafront restaurants, with recommendations from your guide.
In the afternoon, you’ll cross yet another border and head to Croatia, where you’ll conclude your day in the hilltop town of Grožnjan. This town is renowned as the “town of artists” and is filled with art galleries and small shops offering Istrian specialties such as truffles, fuži pasta, olive oil, and wine. During a short stroll, your guide will show you the highlights of this hidden gem in the breathtaking Istrian countryside.
Finally, you’ll return to Trieste, enriched with a unique and memorable cross-border experience.
Departure: by agreement from your accommodation throughout the year.

Trieste Miramare Castle and Karst tour - July 2017
“Spectacular scenery with 5-star personalized and attentive service!” My multigenerational family, including two toddler daughters and 70 year-old mother, loved our experience with Slovenia 4 Seasons! We serendipitously found their brochure in the lobby of our hotel, the Starhotels Savoia Excelsior Palace in Trieste. Thus began the best part of our trip, which up until then had consisted of lovely but somewhat impersonal train rides through the Swiss Alps and a self-guided (i.e. lots of walking in the hot sun, waiting in line behind hordes of other tourists, overpaying for water taxis) tour of Venice. We had the time of our lives with Slovenia 4 Seasons, with our jovial tour guide Jernej regaling us with the history and culture of Slovenia and Italy as we were driven smoothly in an air-conditioned and very comfortable minivan through the pristine countryside and perfectly preserved storybook villages of Slovenia--just about half an hour from Trieste, but so orderly and clean compared to Italy--and unspoiled due to its status as a hidden gem and also the national character of cleanliness and pride in caring for their small but self-sufficient country. On the first day, we drove up the mountains to a hilltop playground where my daughters gleefully swung on monkey bars seemingly located at the top of this new world, then back downhill through rich green forests, and around picturesque stone and stucco clad villages, each with a proud little church that hosts every villager's wedding, funeral, and a book that contains hundreds of years of ancestry records. Our tots found the bumpy cobblestone streets of Groznjan, a beautifully-preserved and refreshingly uncrowded medieval Croatian village, to be as charming as they were fun and challenging for their little feet to traverse, an entertaining obstacle course on the way to a feast of sumptuous prawns and grilled fish. We ended the day in Lipica, the site of the Lipizzaner stud farm with gorgeous white horses as well as three roly-poly ponies that the girls delighted in meeting. The next day Jernej took us to the graceful capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, where we visited the colorful and spotless and bustling city center and delicious Farmer's Market. The highlight for the girls, however, was a fantastical indoor playground--Mala Ulica--with a little kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and cafe where they were served freshly squeezed orange juice, grilled cheese, and milk. It was hard to convince them to leave, but our next stop was the most spectacular yet--the dramatic Predjama Castle, built into the side of a cliff with a soaring network of caves extending overhead and through to the other side of the mountain. Jernej introduced us to his friends at the welcoming onsite restaurant, where we dined on savory venison goulash. Our experience with Slovenia 4 Seasons could not have been better or more personalized to our needs and interests--Jernej was willing to literally drive us anywhere we wanted to explore, and stop anywhere for photo ops--and allowed us to see and do so much more, in comfort and safety, than ever would have been possible on our own. We wish we could take them with us on all of our travels--having spent time with tour guides from all over the world, their service truly stands out for their attentiveness, flexibility, creativity, and warmth. We can't wait to go back and see more with Slovenia 4 Seasons!

I have been for 4 days in Ljubljana and this tour has been the most recommendable one. Our guide Stephan was excellent. He is very knowledgeable and also passionate about his job. He answered all the questions from history to fauna and flora, and he went out of his way to accommodate special wishes. For instance he helped me find postcards in Groznjan, he showed me the Greek Church in Trieste. A very nice person. In Ljubljana I have done guided tours with four guides and by far Stephan was the best one. I wish I would have booked all day trips and guided visit of Ljubljana with him. Something about the design of the tour: I wish we would have spent more time in Trieste. But may be this is not possible for then the tour would be too long. However, for a first visit to Trieste it is a good option. Maybe FourSeasons could organize a separate tour of Trieste and Miramare too? And add Coper to a new Slovenian coast tour?

So Good We Did Two Tours!!My wife and I recently went to Croatia to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Prior to our trip, I booked the "3 Countries in One Day" tour with Slovenia 4 Seasons. Andrej was professional and quick to respond to all of my questions prior to our arrival in Croatia. Our tour guide (Stefan) was on time and had great energy the whole day. He provided some great history about each country and city we toured. He also made some perfect recommendations for our lunch stop in Piran, Slovenia, and dessert in Trieste, Italy. We had such a positive experience with this tour, we decided to book a second tour for later in the week. We again had Stefan for a tour guide, and once again he was EXCELLENT!! The second tour was a day excursion to Venice from Opatija, Croatia. Thanks so much to Stefan and Andrej!!

Three countries in one day (IT, CRO, SLO) - March 2022
My husband and I visited Slovenia and Croatia with friends and spent an amazing day with Stefan after having corresponded with Andrej to modify our itinerary slightly. We had a great morning in Piran Slovenia and had lunch by the ocean. We then visited Grožnjan Croatia, and although many artists had not opened for the season, Stefan made sure we met the artists who were open and we learned about truffle hunting, brandy making and other artisan products. We also met an artist and toured his gallery while he told us about upcoming exhibit in Belgium he was preparing for. We were then taking to Kabola Winery, family run for over a century. We sat on the deck in the warm Istrian sun and sampled (and bought!) several wines. We wrapped up the day with a visit to the Butori Waterfall since we didn't get to Plitvice Lakes on this trip. I can't say enough about the service, attention to detail, the beauty of the area, or the overall experience. I highly recommend Slovenia4Seasons!

Three countries in one day (CRO, SLO, IT) - February 2023
We booked the 3 countries/1 day tour from Ljubljana to Trieste, Italy; Piran, Slovania; Groznjan, Croatia. From start to finish our trip was amazing! Andrej texted me the day before our tour to confirm and make sure I had his cell # in case there were any issues. The tour is up to 8 people (Mercedes mini van) but due to traveling off season my teen daughter and I had a personal tour! I cannot say enough good things about this tour and Andrej. There are zero negatives (unless you consider my dismay that the tour we booked for tomorrow is not with Andrej). Andrej is a history buff and you can tell that he is passionate about informing his tours about the region. Being from America, he really viewed our tour from things we could relate to - comparing populations and sizes of countries to the US so we could visualize what he was explaining. The tour was the perfect balance of Andrej showing us the main sites in the towns and explaining options to us so we could explore our interests on our own. Book your trip you will not be disappointed! Thank you Andrej!!!
